Celebrate the “dog days of summer” with Tweetsie Railroad and K-9s in Flight Frisbee Dogs from this Saturday, July 31 to Sunday, August 8.

John Misita’s entourage of incredibly talented, amazingly athletic canine friends will perform daily at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. for Tweetsie guests.

Audiences of all ages will be entertained by this action-packed team of dogs in acrobatic freestyle routines performing live at Tweetsie. This is an event the entire family will enjoy.

The K-9s in Flight Frisbee Dogs performance is included in the regular admission prices.

In a high-energy performance set to music, Misita and his group of trainers and dogs not only entertain, but also educate people about pet adoption, pet care and how proper nutrition and training can bring out the best in any dog, at any life stage. Most of the canine stars in the show are rescue dogs from city pounds and animal shelters.

Whether snatching flying discs out of the air during a back flip, dock diving or taking a running leap off Misita’s back, the team exemplifies the pinnacle of precision dog training. These dogs have performed for various audiences at special events nationwide.

North Carolina’s first theme park offers this special event in addition to the daily offering of Wild West family fun, including meeting cowboys in an Old West town, exciting amusement rides, lively shows and a ride on a train pulled by the famed steam-powered Tweetsie locomotive. Families also enjoy the Deer Park zoo, Miner’s Mountain and live entertainment for all ages, including the famed Diamond Lil’s Can-Can Revue in the Tweetsie Palace Saloon.

Tweetsie Railroad is open seven days a week until Sunday, August 22, before returning to the weekend schedule from Friday, August 27, through Sunday, October 31, including Labor Day Monday. The 2010 season ends October 31.

The park’s regular hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but will be open from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. for the Ghost Train Halloween Festival Friday and Saturday nights in October.

Daily admission is $32 for adults and $22 for children ages 3 through 12. Children 2 and under are admitted free. For more information about Tweetsie Railroad, click to www.tweetsie.com or call 828-264-9061.
