Walk for Community Care
Community Care Clinic Announces 5K Fun Run/Walk August 7
Boone’s Community Care Clinic recently announced plans for a 5K Fun Run/Walk to be held at Brookshire Park on Saturday, August 7, rain or shine.
Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. on August 7 for the 8:30 a.m. un-timed Fun Run and the 9:00 a.m. Family Walk. The suggested donation levels are $5 per individual or $10 per family, with free t-shirts for those making a $20 donation. Organized by Sherri Wilson with the support of Watauga County Healthy Carolinians and other community agencies and businesses, the event will also offer information about community services, healthful living and fitness screenings.
While the primary aim is to raise funds to support the clinic’s services to low-income, uninsured local residents, organizers also hope the event will let the community learn more about the clinic’s programs and opportunities, while offering a family-oriented event that will help everyone’s health.
Brookshire Park is located off Highway 421 on Brookshire Road, near the county industrial park in Boone.
