Hot bluegrass act Surefire will close out the 2010 season of Music in the Valle at the Valle Crucis Community Park this Friday, September 10, at 7:00 p.m.Here’s a listing of free concerts in the High Country in the next couple of weeks. Most are outdoors, so don’t forget your blanket or lawn chair. Most concert series are winding down now; don’t miss your last chances to enjoy an outdoor concert—until next year.
Todd General Store—Friday
This Friday at Todd General Store in Todd, enjoy free bluegrass by Creekside Grass. Come early for good seating. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., and music will follow at 7:00 p.m. For info, call 336-877-1067.
Concerts on the Lawn—Friday and September 10
Watauga Arts Council’s Concerts on the Lawn series takes place every Friday at the Jones House in downtown Boone beginning at 5:00 p.m. This Friday, September 10, enjoy old-time music by the Zephyr Lightning Bolts and Whitetop Mountaineers, and don’t miss the series’ final concert on September 17 featuring The Harris Brothers and Crys Matthews. Music in the Valle—Friday and September 10
The Music in the Valle concert series takes place at Valle Crucis Community Park at 7:00 p.m. on Fridays. The season’s final concert this Friday, September 10, will feature energetic bluegrass act Surefire.

Blowing Rock Concerts in the Park—September 12
Several free concerts take place at Memorial Park in Blowing Rock this summer as part of the 24th annual Concerts in the Park series, presented by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce. Concerts begin at 4:00 p.m.
