Sugar Grove Celebrates Farm Heritage Day September 18
Sugar Grove’s Farm Heritage Day will be held at the historic Cove Creek High School Saturday, September 18, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Experience an old-time country fair in Sugar Grove Saturday, September 18, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the historic Cove Creek High School.
The Farm Heritage Day will feature live music with clogging, food, crafts, steam engines, wagon rides and more—perfect for the whole family. Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for children and seniors. Children under 5 are admitted free. Free parking is also available near the high school.
An antique car parade will kick off the festival, featuring Ella Mae Ward as the parade’s grand marshal. Throughout the day, activities like beekeeping, quilting and weaving demonstrations, corn grinding and apple butter making and a horseshoe pitching contest will take place. The local Boy Scout troop will also be on hand to demonstrate skills they have learned.
Craft booths will also be set up, with locally made items such as folk art, storybook dolls, stained glass, herbal soaps and woodcarvings available for purchase.
A silent auction will be open until 3:00 p.m. for bidders to search for bargains and good finds.
Kids can enjoy a petting zoo, miniature mules and face painting. Food will also be available for purchase, including hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ, pinto beans, funnel cakes and ice cream.
The Heritage Museum, also located at the high school, will be open to visitors during the fair.
