Mountain Alliance Fine Dining Guide Now Available
Members of Mountain Alliance pose for a picture during a service project on the New River this fall. Just in time for stocking stuffers, Mountain Alliance is now selling its Fine Dining Guide, and 15 High Country establishments are participating in the annual fundraiser for Watauga High School’s Mountain Alliance. Only 200 guides will be sold.
The Fine Dining Guide costs $50 and offers $200 in savings. Todd Nolt, executive director of Mountain Alliance, estimates that purchasers of the guide will recoup the cost of the guide after two or three visits to participating businesses. New for this year’s guide is Ensemble Stage’s buy one-adult-ticket-get-one-free offer.
“We hope it’s a win-win situation for them and for us and that people will try a restaurant or place they haven’t been to before and perhaps find a new favorite,” Nolt said.
He added that the goal of this year’s fundraiser is $6,000, which represents about 8 percent of Mountain Alliance’s budget. Earlier in the year, the Watauga County Board of Education eliminated funding, which represented 10 percent of its $80,000 budget, for the organization.
“We are hoping the sales will meet expectations and help make up for the shortfall of our budget,” Nolt said.
Mountain Alliance is a high school organization centered on adventure-based learning and outdoor recreation. The Fine Dining Guides are sold at Footsloggers of Boone and Blowing Rock, Stick Boy Bread Company in Boone and Rustic of Blowing Rock on Main Street.
