Tickets cost $7 for students and $10 for everyone else.
The anticipated film festival stops at ASU for the 16th year in a row on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31, at 7:30 p.m. Though the film festival reaches 245,000 people at more than 635 screenings in 32 countries, the Boone stop is one of the most attended screenings on the world tour, and each year it sells out.
Because each screening is tailored to the area in which it is shown, every stop on the festival tour features a different selection of movies that come from the same pool. This year, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour has selected 27 movies, which range in length from four to 53 minutes.
Films feature a wide array of topics that include outdoor adventure, the environment, animals and personal journeys to exotic locales. The movie C.A.R.C.A. is about one man’s quest to revolutionize the world of animal avalanche rescue. Another film is about a National Geographic photojournalist who follows the Colorado River from his family’s ranch.
In this year’s film festival travel to places like Ennedi Desert of Chad, Mongolia, Hungary, British Columbia, the Swiss Alps, the North Pole and other beautiful regions of the world.
This year’s screening selections for the Boone stop have not been finalized, but Rich Campbell, associate director of ASU Outdoor Programs, said All.I.Can: The Short Cut, Chasing Water, Cold and On Assignment: Jimmy Chin will be shown.
